MayFlower

For me May was a month filled with many exciting things as my exams/my first year of university had officially finished and summer had officially began .I have had so much fun this month and with it all coming to an end I thought I would share some of my experiences with you!

Dancing Show!
Straight after my exams had finished I went home for a few days as I had been asked to take part in my old dancing school's annual show. I had been a part of the dancing school since I was three years old but unfortunately I had to quit last June in order to move to university. It was a real privilege to be asked to go back and be in the show, even though it was only for one dance. It felt so good being back at rehearsal and spending time with all my dancing girls as it had been such a big part of my life for so long. The show was a great success yet again and all the girls definitely did themselves proud!

End Of Year BBQ!
The sun was shining, spirits were high and the smell of burgers, sausages and ice cold cider filled the air as a BBQ was put on for everyone living in my student accommodation. As we headed down for a spot of lunch and an afternoon drink we were surprised to see that our courtyard was filled with none other than a gigantic bouncy castle and and inflatable bungee run! Being the big kids that we are we couldn't wait to put them to use.

Everyone's competitive side really came out on the bungee run as we raced to put balls in baskets only to be pulled back by the elastic that was tied around out waists (fun at the time extremely sore the next day!)

Bungee fun

After all the excitement and bouncing (and also after we had eaten all the free food and drunk all the free alcohol) we headed back to our flats to get ready for a night out. We were planning on going to our student union as they host a night called 'Big Cheese' every Saturday night. The play all of the cheesiest music from S Club 7 to Cascada mixed in with some more modern cheese like One Direction. A dream come true for me! This was definitely one of the most fun days/nights I had had in ages and it was such a good start to the summer.

Birthday Celebrations!
My flatmate Chris turned 19 this month and as we have gotten pretty close over the course of the semester I was really excited to celebrate with him! We started the day by opening presents. As a flat we all put money together and decided to get him an Edinburgh mug from Starbucks as he drinks a ridiculous amount of tea and we put the rest of the money into a card so he could buy himself whatever he wanted.
Later we went out for lunch with our flatmate Alice and our friends Ella and Clara who also live in our building. We went to a restaurant called Rascals which is located on South Bridge in Edinburgh. I chose the char-grilled chicken medallions which was served with chips and coleslaw. The restaurant was super cheap and I was really impressed with what I got for my money!

Later that night we headed to Robertson's Close (another student accommodation) for Chris' birthday party which was shared with Liam and Thomas, two of Chris' friends. We mingled with the PE students and played numerous drinking games, including my favourite 'last one to'. After everyone had run out of alcohol we made our way to WhyNot, one of the nightclubs on George street and as we were celebrating a birthday we were made VIP for free! It was a really fun night and we tried to make the most of it as it was going to be the last time everyone was out together before we all headed home for summer.

Radio 1's Big Weekend!
Last month I applied for tickets for radio 1's big weekend which was going to be held at Glasgow Green. For those of you who don't know radio 1's big weekend is a festival that is put on by one of the UK's biggest radio stations. It is held in a different city every year at the end of May and they give out over 50,000 free tickets to people all over the UK.
I was lucky enough to get tickets for the Sunday of the event which I was extremely happy about as Katy Perry was headlining the main stage and one of my favorite bands, The 1975, were also playing the main stage.
  The main stage!

The tickets are given out in pairs so I decided to take my friend Robyn who I met through my university course. We saw many artists including Kings of Leon, The Vamps, Paolo Nutini, Kasabian and The 1975 (who were all amazing may I add!)
The 1975...One of my favourites

The highlight of the day for me was definitely the headliner, Katy Perry. She put on such a good show and it was a great way to close the festival.

Moving out!
With exams over and first year finished it only means one thing, it's time to move out of student accommodation and go home for summer. I have mixed feelings about going home as part of my is really excited to go home and see all my family and friends but the other part of me doesn't want to leave Edinburgh as I have had such an amazing time living here and I have met so many amazing people who I am going to miss so much over summer! It has been sad saying goodbye to New Arthur Place and all the people in it but I'm extremely excited to move into my new flat and start 2nd year in September!

I feel like this month as been the perfect way to end 1st year and also the perfect way to start my 4 month summer! I have had so much fun this month and I am extremely sad that it's now over!

Goodbye May...
